Question:
I was wondering if anyone has any experience or advice with parenthood through pharmacy school? I recently got married and have really wanted to pursue a family but am worried about performing a balancing act with school and parenthood since school already is so time consuming. I also don't want to put off having a family and risk delaying too long for reasons of fertility. Any thoughts would help, thank you!
Response 1:
Take my response with a grain of salt since I am not a parent: I personally would wait to start a family until after the first year at the very least. Pharmacy school requires a lot of attention and I know children do, too. If you have a lot of help (ie. family, friends, your partner, etc.) who will help you with the baby, it may be more doable. Plus it could really take a toll on your mental health trying to juggle everything. If fertility is what you are worried about, it may be worth talking to your doctor or OBGYN to weigh your options. Either way, good luck and RxPRN is always here to help support you.
Response 2:
I also do not personally have experience parenting through school, but have to also agree with the above response. Pharmacy school can really test your time management skills, and can take up a large part of your day, which could make it hard to prioritize family as well as school. Your health, both mental and physical, matters and is important to take care of especially through stressful times. I would highly recommend talking to a professional about your options regarding fertility and family planning, and think about the support systems you may need or have through your personal journey. I wish you all the best!
