Question:

Any upper years have advice on how to study for IPFC 4? did you make a lot of notes to understand all the studies and trials or mainly understand the bottomline and try to apply that to cases?

thanks :)

Response 1: Not an upper year, but I did okay on the midterm. My best advice is to study with friends so you can quiz each other. And make flash cards to quiz yourself. Start studying early so you don’t get too far behind. And I always recommend going to see the professors. They are the real experts and are there to help. Dr. Alsabbagh wants you to succeed.

Response 2: (Not an upper year) It seems that Dr. Alsabbagh wants us to remember the PICO--if you can remember what the bottom line (O = Outcome) for each study is and who the study applies to (P = population), we should be okay! Also, don’t forget that Dr. A is available for appointments by email and he’ll spend as much time with you as you need. What worked for me in IPFC 2 (which I feel was similar in difficulty), I always studied in groups for at least 30% of my study time. The group might be able to explain things to you differently AND it keeps you accountable to your study time. If you’re having trouble finding a study group, please reach out to a mentor! We’re happy to help you find a solution / invite you to our groups to try out. Good luck!
