Question:
I'm stressed, tired, and exhausted from exams. I realize this is a normal time for us. However why did they make our exams this year (2017) so close to each other. I can barely wrap by head around all the material to be ready enough to write the next day. I hate how our school has no consideration for our health or well-being during exams. They just want to stress us out and get us out of here as soon as they can. Who makes the exam schedules? And why can't they space it out so we can actually study?
Response:
Feeling stressed and overworked is completely normal during such a busy time of the year. I can definitely understand that at times it can feel very overwhelming. It's important to know that you are not alone in this feeling. Most students at one point or another in the exam process feel a little overwhelmed.
The school does its best to try and accommodate each of the classes when setting the schedule. They also ask the class representatives for input on the exam schedule and will adjust the schedule based on feedback. They try to make it a balance between exams being too close to one another and keeping the students until the very end of the exam period. There are also certain examinations which just cannot be moved due to logistics. This usually includes IPFC and OSCEs. So other courses are usually scheduled around these core courses.
It always feels that if you were just given one or two more days to study it would make all the difference. Just try to make the best with the time you have by setting realistic goals for yourself and be happy with the effort you have put in. If you have 5 hours of 5 days to study for the next course just try to make the most of the time you have. Making a study schedule can always help to prepare for the finals. Reach out to other classmates and work together to better understand the material. Also, always try to take a little time for yourself, even if it is just a couple minutes to watch a funny video. You are part of a group of students and faculty that are like a supportive family. We want you to succeed!
