Question:
If you guys could redo anything in pharmacy school, knowing what you know now, what would it be? What advice do you have for incoming students?
Response 1:
If I could redo pharmacy school again, I would definitely say I’d be getting more involved - grades are only one part of the experience, but doing more with the school is what makes it your own.
Response 2:
Definitely taking the advice from upper year students! No lie. They always stressed the importance of balancing work and play, and oh boy do I wish I did that sooner. Grades don’t mean everything - what is important is taking the information you’ve learned and be able to apply it to your future profession! Pharmacy requires life-long learning - and there is tons of time for that!
Response 3:
Don’t spend all of your time studying! In 1st year, all of the upper years told us to go out and have fun as much as possible because it only gets busier. But at the time, all I did was worry about the next test or assignment. Now, looking back, I realize how right they were! Learning is definitely still important, but make sure to leave time to go out with your friends and attend events. “Future you” will thank you for it!
Response 4:
Live in the moment! Pharmacy school requires a lot of studying, but it also involves participating in events and getting to know your classmates/future colleagues. My advice to incoming students would be to lead a balanced lifestyle and keep things in perspective.
